Mobile Families : "Mobile Families" is a vision of Rwanda genocide survivor and orphan who just completed his B.A. in Economics. Charles dream is for every child without a parent to have someone that gives them a sense of family. Charles relates a story around the age of 12 just after the genocide when he got some of the highest marks in his class and excitedly headed for home after school to tell his family. His joy quickly became sadness as he remembered that there was no home and no one to rejoice in his grades with him. Charles pressed on to succeed without immediate family and wants others to see that you can still succeed in life in spite of the trials and struggles in your life. He wants to mobilize many with a similar story to his so that those across the country today without hope can gain some through seeing what can be. Charles coordinated two events with groups of genocide survivors. One was a group of 15-22 year olds who he sees as the biggest threat to a prosperous future for his country and children if they don't find hope quickly. The second group was a set of 100 orphans living in 24 "child headed homes". In each case he shared his story and encouraged. He also gathered basic food items to bless them. Charles is an inspiration to many.

Charles honored Alexis and Grace at one of the events as they hosted a benefit birthday party where they collected supplies for two child headed households, each with three children, instead of having guests of the party bring birthday gifts. They gathered shoes, clothes, blankets, sheets, mattresses, books, and soccer balls.

Not in the USA : There are so many things that we see each day here in Rwanda where we find ourselves with jaws dropped. Some are sad, some are funny, and many make us thankful. There are many things I hope to take pictures of that to this point I haven't gotten the courage to do. I will continue to add to this gallery.
